About Mingus Springs

Mingus Springs is open from mid-April to mid-October, with a maximum capacity of 110. Weekend use requires two nights. Groups have the option of cooking their own meals during the spring and fall.

Mingus Springs Camp has comfortable facilities located in a beautiful high mountain valley. While folks of all ages love coming to Mingus Springs -- some have returned for over thirty years -- it is important to note that we have a central bathhouse rather than bathrooms in each cabin. We are not a motel in the woods, so if your group would be more comfortable in a conference retreat setting, it might be better to consider other options.

The goal of Mingus Springs is to use the environment as an integrating context for learning. To further that goal, numerous projects are on-going in forestry, wildlife management, invasive species control and watershed management. Guests are encouraged to participate in any of these projects.

Mingus Springs is used by schools and universities for residential outdoor education programs and faculty retreats. It is also used by churches for family camping and young adult retreats; by organizations for the physically disabled; and governmental bodies such as Cooperative Extension and the US Forest Service.
